Testimonials...... My husband came for a wedding at the Maxwell Ranch and this cabin was perfect! It is so peaceful and quiet and there are beautiful walks right out the door. We would stay again and probably will! Thank you! I came here at the request of my husband’s spirit, who recently passed very unexpectedly. He came to grad school in Fort Collins about eight years ago and loved Colorado for the nature, trout fishing and Peace. He died in Oregon, but Colorado was where he truly wished to be. His spirit walked with me here in this special Sky Kiva. The views and rocks are amazing and soothed me. Being from LA, this was also a very welcome respite. I was born in Wisconsin, so this - the Midwest and the Heart of the Country - does indeed feel like Home! Thank you so much, ALOHA! (A hummer came to the window twice this morning, so I refilled the feeder with sugar H2O!)
Thank you for sharing your little bit of heaven with us. We come from a small farming community and live in the country surrounded by farm fields, so our intention was not to get away from the rat race. What we found was a gorgeous view every morning and then again after a long day of hiking. A corn field can never compete with the mountains covered in pine trees and I wish one could bottle the fresh smell of mountain air. We especially like eating outside on the deck. You gave us all the comforts of home, and then some, in your cabin. Thanks again!! This place is perfect for a relaxing chill-out spot to get away from it all. On our first afternoon, it rained hard but then the sun came out, as did the chipmunks, rabbits, deer, bluebirds and hummingbirds - only Snow White was missing! Saw all sorts, just sat on the porch, including a badger, and deer by the rocks to the side. Really great place, the only thing we’d have appreciated (as Brits) would have been a wildlife guide and a map of the area. And a kettle for making a pot of tea!! Very friendly people. Beautiful place, the Wild West U.S of A. at its best! Loved it. As people have said before, the “Bird’s Nest” is a place to rest your soul. Escaping from the hustle and bustle of life on the front range, it was nice to slow down for the weekend. Celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary, we had a wine and cheese picnic on the porch. The classical meditation CDs that were provided made it a magical experience! We felt like we were transported to Tuscany. We took a drive north lookin’ for fishing holes and ended up on a 4-wheel adventure. Little piece of advice, don’t trust a map that’s 8 years old. Eventually, we found Creedmore Lakes with no luck on a catch. The stars are absolutely amazing up here. The chairs on the porch were perfect for star gazing. Thanks for the wonderful weekend and we’ll definitely be back to celebrate our 2nd anniversary.
Cheers! Enjoyed another restful long weekend hiking - biking and reading. A welcome respite from busy lives. Thanks again. My wife and I stayed at one of your cabins last year for our Anniversary. The cabin we stayed in was the Bird’s Nest. I’m writing a series of posts on our favorite mountain getaways and your Bird’s Nest cabin is on that list. http://www.thedatinghusband.com/2012/03/secluded-romantic-mountain-cabin.html. Three days to rest, recharge, soak in the beauty surrounding Bird’s Nest. Another wonderful adventure. The weather was perfect for fishing on Saturday. I caught a 21-inch trout at Parvin Lake. Don caught it’s “mini-me” - a 14-incher. Sunday we hiked to Mt. Margaret. Did you know you can see Bird’s Nest from the summit? So cool. You better bring binoculars tho. We are leaving today and Bird’s Nest is having it’s first snow of the season. Absolutely beautiful and so tranquil - a perfect little piece of heaven. Hope to be back next year!
